Founding WaterAble
Founded by Llewellyn in 2020, WaterAble is a network for people with disability and their allies in the Australian water industry.
Llewellyn has designed and delivered innovative approaches to improving disability inclusion through WaterAble. Programs include workshops that co-design disability inclusion actions and interventions supported by simple and easy-to-use guidance material, leadership and mentoring programs, and engaging events.
Initially a success in Victoria with all 18 water corporations partnering with the network, in 2023 WaterAble evolved to include employer fee-paying partners from across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. WaterAble also matured its operating model and set itself up for financial sustainability.
WaterAble empowers people in the water industry to redefine who they are, take on leadership roles and grow their careers.
WaterAble was a proud finalist for “Innovation” in the prestigious 2023 National Awards for Disability Leadership.
WaterAble Leadership Program
During 2023 and 2024 Llewellyn designed and delivered two WaterAble leadership programs for people with disability in the water industry, co-facilitated by Emma Olivier from Twenty Percent Disability Inclusion Advisory (in 2024). The programs cover disability rights and models, leadership frameworks and key leadership competencies.
Consumers Leading in Governance training
In 2024, VMIAC – The Victorian Mental Illness Awareness Council, ran groundbreaking and specialist training to support consumers to take on governance roles in the mental health sector.
The ultimate aim of the program is to make the sector more consumer-centric. Llewellyn facilitated a module on board member roles and responsibilities for two groups of consumers – one fully online and one fully in person.
The evaluations showed major increases in understanding among participants on the key competency areas for Llewellyn’s sessions.
